Welcome to Summary Insights!
Summary Insights provides a powerful, consolidated view of your emission data to help you quickly understand performance and identify the biggest contributors to your emissions profile. In just a few minutes, you’ll learn how to access key metrics, prioritize your fieldwork, and generate compliance reports with confidence.Time Required: 8-10 minutes for completion
What You’ll Learn:
- Navigate emission summaries and identify top-emitting assets
- Use multi-dimensional analysis to understand emission drivers
- Filter data for specific time periods and compliance reporting
Your First Steps
Access Summary Insights
Navigate to EmissionOps → Insights & Analytics → Summary Insights from your main dashboard. You’ll see a comprehensive overview displaying both total emissions and average rates across your operations. The main dashboard shows key performance indicators including total event count, average emission rates, and total mass for your selected time period and asset scope.
Set Your Analysis Scope
Configure your time period and asset filters:
- Select a time range (Last Month, Last Quarter, or Custom Range)
- Choose your asset scope (specific regions, business units, or individual assets)
- Apply any additional filters for event status or observation types
Pro Tip: Start with “Last Month” to get familiar with the data before expanding to longer time periods.
Identify Top Contributors
Review the Top Emitting Assets section to see which assets are contributing most to your total emissions. Each asset shows:
- Total emission mass and average rates
- Event count and current status breakdown
- Source category distribution (wellheads, compressors, tanks, etc.)
Analyze Performance Patterns
Explore the Detection Method Analysis and Equipment Type Analysis sections to understand:
- Which observation types (satellite, drone, OGI camera) are finding the most emissions
- Which equipment categories need the most attention
- How event resolution status affects your overall emissions profile
You Did It!✅ You can now identify your highest-impact emission sources✅ You understand how different detection methods perform in your operations✅ You can prioritize fieldwork based on data-driven insights
Quick Wins
Now that you’ve completed your first analysis, try these activities to build confidence with Summary Insights:Generate a Compliance Report
Filter your data to the last quarter and export a summary for regulatory reporting. Time: 3 minutes
Identify Weekly Priorities
Filter to show only “open” events and sort by emission mass to create your team’s weekly fieldwork list. Time: 2 minutes
Compare Detection Methods
Analyze which observation types are most effective for different equipment categories in your operations. Time: 5 minutes
Asset Performance Review
Compare emission performance across your top 10 assets to identify improvement opportunities. Time: 4 minutes
If You Get Stuck
Why don't I see any data in my summary?
Why don't I see any data in my summary?
This usually means your filters are too restrictive. Try expanding your time range or removing asset filters. Also verify you have the necessary permissions to view emission data for your selected scope.
How do I understand the breakdown data?
How do I understand the breakdown data?
Each asset, detection method, or equipment type can be broken down by multiple dimensions. Click on the breakdown charts to see how emissions are distributed by status (open/closed), source category, or observation type. This helps you understand the composition of emissions for better decision-making.
What's the difference between emission rate and total mass?
What's the difference between emission rate and total mass?
Emission rate (kg/hour) shows the intensity of individual emissions, while total mass (kg) shows the cumulative impact over time. Use rates to identify severe individual incidents and mass to understand overall environmental impact and compliance obligations.
Can I compare different time periods?
Can I compare different time periods?
Yes! Use the time range selector to analyze different periods sequentially, or switch to Trend Insights for side-by-side temporal comparisons and month-over-month analysis.
