Understanding the Vents tab
Vent statuses
Each vent has one of the following statuses:| Status | Colour | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Abnormal | Red | Venting behaviour is abnormal and requires attention |
| Normal | Green | Venting is within normal operating parameters |
| Not Venting | Purple | No active venting |
Key data fields
The Vents table displays important information for each vent:- Vent ID — Unique identifier for the vent record
- Site — The site where the vent is located
- Detection Date — When the vent was documented
- Duration — How long the venting event lasted
- Emissions Rate — Measured emissions rate
- Volume — Total volume of emissions
- Component — The equipment component
- Process Block — The process area within the site
- Status — Current vent status
Viewing and filtering vents
Open the Vents tab
Navigate to the Fugitive Emission Dashboards and select the Vents tab from the tab bar.
Choose your view mode
Select the view that works best for your task:
- Split view — See both map and table side-by-side
- Map view — Full-screen map with colour-coded markers
- Table view — Full-screen data grid with all columns
Filter by site
Use the Site dropdown to filter vents for a specific site, or clean up the filter to view all vents.
Set the date range
Choose from preset date ranges or set a custom range. You can filter by:
- Detected — Filter by the detection date (when the vent was first documented)
- Updated — Filter by the last updated date (when the vent record was last modified)
Filter by status
Click on status badges in the legend to show or hide vents by status. This is useful for focusing on abnormal venting that requires attention.
Using map and table views
Map view
The map displays vents as colour-coded markers based on their status. Interact with the map to:- Zoom and pan to navigate to different areas
- Click markers to open the detail blade
- Use spatial filtering to filter by the current map viewport
Table view
The table provides a detailed data grid with:- Sortable columns — Click column headers to sort
- Groupable columns — Group by Site, Component, Process Block, or Status
- Column visibility — Show or hide columns as needed
- Row highlighting — Hover highlights corresponding map marker

Using the detail blade
Click on any vent row or map marker to open the detail blade.
Details tab
The Details tab displays:- Vent metadata (ID, status, detection date)
- Form response data (emissions rate, duration, volume, component)
- Media attachments (photos, videos from field inspection)
Single PDF export
You can export an individual vent record as a PDF from the detail blade.History tab
The History tab shows a timeline of:- Initial documentation
- Status changes
- Related form submissions
Editing vent data
Editors and administrators can update vent records directly from the dashboard.
Exporting vent data
Export filtered vent data to Excel for reporting and analysis.
Batch PDF export
You can also export multiple vents as a single PDF for documentation or sharing.
Tips for efficient vent management
Focus on abnormal venting
Focus on abnormal venting
Use status filters to focus on Abnormal items that require investigation or corrective action.
Use grouping for analysis
Use grouping for analysis
Group the table by Component or Process Block to identify patterns in venting behaviour across your facility.
