Configuring Your Unit Preferences
You can set default units that will be applied to all emission data you see. Your preferences are saved to your profile and will remain consistent every time you log in.- Navigate to your Avatar in the bottom left corner of the application.
- Click on My Profile.
- In the settings panel, locate the Units / Emission Events section.
- Configure your units:
- Measurement Type: Select whether you want to view emissions by Mass (e.g., ) or Volume (e.g., ).
- Unit System: Choose your preferred system (e.g., Metric or Imperial).
- Time Unit for Rate: Select the time basis for emission rates (e.g., per hour, per day, per minute).
- Methane Density Standard: Choose the scientific standard for methane density calculations from the dropdown menu.
- Click Save to apply your changes.
These settings only change your personal view of the data. They do not change the settings or the data view for anyone else in your organization.
Conversion Standards
The application supports the following standards:| Standard | Standard Conditions | Methane () Density |
|---|---|---|
| IUPAC | (273.15 K) and 100 kPa (1 bar) | |
| NIST | (273.15 K) and 101.325 kPa (1 atm) | |
| EPA | (293.15 K) and 101.325 kPa | |
| EPA / AGA / ISO | (288.15 K) and 101.325 kPa | |
| BC-ER | (288.15 K) and 101.325 kPa |
Where Your Settings Apply
Once you save your preferences, all data related to emission events will automatically be displayed in your chosen units. This affects numerical values everywhere you see them, including:- Emission Event Lists: Tables and lists showing multiple emissions.
- Detail Panels: The detailed view for a single emission event.
- Analytics & Reports: All charts, graphs, and reports you view or generate.
Benefits of Custom Units
For Individual Users
- Consistency: View all data in the units you are most comfortable with.
- Efficiency: Eliminate the need for manual conversions and external calculators.
- Clarity: Reduce confusion and potential errors from interpreting mixed unit displays.
Tips & Best Practices
- Choose the Right Standard: Before analyzing data, confirm you have selected the methane density standard that matches your project or regulatory requirements.
- Verify for Critical Reports: When preparing data for compliance or critical reports, always double-check that the selected units and standards are correct.
- Align With Your Team: Coordinate with your team members to agree on a set of preferred units to ensure seamless collaboration.
